There’s some rather disappointing Digimon Survive news today. According to the Japanese gaming site Ryokuta, as translated by Nintendo Everything, Digimon Survive is delayed indefinitely, with a TBD release date now.

Bandai Namco hasn’t actually confirmed the information about the Digimon SRPG-Virtual novel spinoff yet, but the Ryokuta post cites issues in development as the delay’s cause.

Specifically, the Digimon Survive dev team said character development has become “sloppy,” and the entire design needs to be “overhauled.” This view reportedly comes in light of the new Digimon anime, but it’s unclear how that might have affected Survive.

It’s something of a surprise development either way. Ever since last year’s in-depth Digimon Survive dev diary, we’ve been getting gradual information drips focused on key characters and their Digimon partners.

Still, if these changes help the development team create a finished product they’re proud of and that fulfills their goals, it can only be a good thing. We’ve endured Digimon Survive delays already, after all.

The original story is over on Ryokuta, and the translated version lives on Nintendo Everything. Stay tuned to GameSkinny for more Digimon Survive news as it (hopefully) Digi-volves.
