A lot of us here at GameSkinny were excited to hear about the new Steam Machine, and SteamOS, when Valve announced the new products a few months ago. We then headed to the official Steam Community page to make sure we had satisfied the requirements to be among the eligible participants, for our chance to be one of the 300 people who will receive a prototype Steam Machine later this year. Our excitement since then has been high, but there has always been something missing…
We wanted pictures of the prototype!
Up until this point, we didn’t even know what the Steam Machine prototype would look like if we were lucky enough to get one. Fear not, fellow hopefuls, for pictures have finally arrived! In a recent profile article in the Seattle Times, Valve devs showed off their shiny new PC that they hope will take over the spot in the living room that consoles currently occupy. Valve designer Greg Coomer says,
Hannes Seifert, the head of IO Interactive agrees, and thinks that Valve may be able to pull it off,

The new machines are expected to be shipped to the chosen (lucky) beta participants within the next two months, with retail versions being released in 2014.
