That being said, she didn’t exactly beat him. So how far does her power go? That’s one question we might try to answer by considering some fictitious anime battles that I think Temari would lose, due to being countered or out-scaled. And no obvious OP picks – this is supposed to be fun, after all.
10. Speed-o’-Sound Sonic
Anime: One Punch Man Temari fans might kill me for this one, but I have to say that Temari isn’t exactly known for her speed. Reacting to kunai thrown her way is about as quick as she gets. And we know that by the time Boruto rolls around, even a normal sword can cause her some serious harm. Put two and two together and you get mister Sonic here. Even though being the speed of sound is honestly pretty low by shounen levels, it still surpasses anything Temari has ever done. And since he’s going so quick he just has to hold a sword in front of him to make a Temari kebab. Yes, Temari does have a giant AoE that would one-shot Sonic if he were to get caught in it. But the fact of the matter is that Temari still has to swing her giant fan to launch her attack. And that’s the most obvious tell in the history of battle tactics. In conclusion: Temari swings her giant fan, Sonic runs behind her and then stabs her to death. I’m not trying to downplay Temari’s power. But I don’t see how she beats anyone that’s at all quick on their feet.
9. Diane
Anime: The Seven Deadly Sins If dodging is a bit to dull for the battle, one could always tank all of the damage and then retaliate with a giant hammer. Or maybe a Goomba stomp. The possibilities are endless. Even in her base form, Diane is arguably way too big and durable to get seriously wounded by Temari’s winds. And even if we decide to high-ball the wind’s destructive power by saying that it’s easily town level, Diane can make her skin metallic and still tank it rather easily. Temari, on the other hand, does not have any notable durability feats – and would likely get obliterated by a single kick. All of this is not even mentioning the fact that Diane can also manipulate the Earth and crush Temari to death, or box her in to disrupt her attacks.
8. Vanilla Ice
Anime: JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders And here’s the final way of completely countering Temari: By simply making her attacks unimportant. You see, when Cream is on the stage and in action, he’s a sphere of pure destruction that cannot be touched by anything in this mortal realm. So Temari either has to run away altogether, or take her chances with the ball of death. If she chooses the ball of death, I don’t think she’s coming out of that alive. Because I once again have to reiterate just how poor her speed & endurance feats have been in the show. Silver Chariot stomps Temari in terms of attack speed and reflexes, and even he had a really tough time landing a proper hit on Vanilla Ice. So I think our wind queen is pretty much done for unless she can somehow survive until the morning.
7. Rudeus Greyrat
Anime: Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation If you haven’t watched this anime, you might think that I’m making fun of Temari at this point. But that’s not the case. This little dude is just legitimately dangerous to face. Or to sleep next to, for that matter. First off, as an underappreciated perk, Rudeus knows basic science and will use it to his advantage. Instead of casting a single spell to create a storm, he casts multiple smaller ones to manipulate the temperature of the air & achieve the same effect. On that basis alone I think he would give Temari quite a few issues. But it’s his mana reserve that really make him terrifying. This dude could wipe out an entire city if he wanted to. And as we saw in the last season, his fire attacks almost damaged the strongest man of that respective universe. The fight wouldn’t be as one-sided as some of the others on here. But I definitely think Rudeus could pull out a W, especially post pseudo-sharingan.
6. Aladdin
Anime: Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic One would have to think that Temari hates sand with a burning passion, considering who she had to grow up with. Well Aladdin is about to dig up that old hatred and make it even worse than before. When he gets serious, Aladdin get summon three giant sand warriors to basically destroy everything in his path. Or just scare people, if we want to stay canon. Either way, these dudes are way above Temari’s pay grade – and the odds of her destroying all of them are very slim. She could maybe take out one by going for the legs, but then the other two can just blast her with fire blasts. Or let the first one fall, since even the body alone would carry so much force upon impact that it would probably bury Temari alive. And all of this is not even mentioning the fact that Aladdin himself can go into battle, cast other spells, and even put up a barrier to block any incoming damage.
5. Shouto Todoroki
Anime: My Hero Academia Since Todoroki controls both ice and fire, he actually has a few ways he can approach this fight. Scenario one: he becomes a total nerd and uses his fire to make an updraft and divert the winds blowing his way. That’s definitely how that would work, so don’t think about it. Scenario two: He could simply put up giant ice walls and block any incoming damage, while chucking fireballs Temari’s way and eventually tiring her out – then going in for the kill. Scenario three: turn the heat up completely, launch yourself at the enemy like there’s no tomorrow, and quickly freeze her hands so she can’t retaliate. Personally, I’m a big fan of number three here. It’d be flashy as all hell.
4. Hisoka Morow
Anime: Hunter x Hunter (2011) This would be a fight that I’d love to see – because the winner isn’t immediately as obvious as some of the previous matchups. Since Bungee Gum has the properties of both rubber and gum, Hisoka’s battle plan would probably be to use that to increase his mobility and gain some ground. This part is crucial, since Temari definitely beats him when it comes to long-range AoE combat. However, if he does manage to get close, it’s pretty much game over – as Hisoka can glue her fan to the ground or disrupt her balance while she’s attacking. But let’s be honest: this is Hisoka. So he would probably go for the most over-the-top play one could imagine. Nevertheless, I think his battle prowess is simply a bit too high for Temari to get over, and that she would fall to the king clown sooner or later.
3. Aoi Toudou
Anime: Jujutsu Kaisen Yeah… Unless this fight took place in a walled off yard without even a single rock or pebble, and the fight started with them being 20 feet apart, Temari just gets flexed on. This is because Toudou can swap places with something on the battleground to completely avoid any attack Temari throws his way. So he can just swap with a pebble behind her, and then beat her to a pulp while she’s still mid-swing. In fact, I don’t think she even wins in that first scenario. Because I forgot to account for the fact that Toudou can simply swap with Temari’s fan itself! It just becomes an absolute bloodbath if that’s the case. And let’s not even pretend that Temari doesn’t get demolished up close, as her taijitsu skills have gotten as much screen time as Tenten.
2. Ryuunosuke Akutagawa
Anime: Bungo Stray Dogs This dude is basically emo Gaara. And let’s just say there was a reason Temari never messed with her little brother. In some regards, he might be even more annoying than Gaara, as his attacks don’t even have travel time most of the time.
He has that protective barrier that keeps him safe from any nasty winds He has ranged attacks that deal with the enemy while he chills in the backline And he has such a versatile kit that he can always catch the enemy off guard.
Will he summon spikes to launch from the ground, or just eat you alive? Find out in the next episode of Gaara but Gen Z. Yeah, overall Temari would just get bodied.
1. Yuno
Anime: Black Clover Let’s end with Yuno, just so that it doesn’t seem like I hate all wind users. You see, if Kishimoto knew how to write female characters and gave Temari a bit more oomph, she could have been equally as badass and powerful as Yuno. First off, Yuno trumps Temari in mobility by a mile. He can fly at extremely quick speeds while also launching multiple attacks, while Temari has to swing her fan to do anything. Secondly, the damage output is not even close – as even just a flex off between Yuno and Rill disintegrated an entire mountain, while Temari only chopped down some trees a few times. Thirdly, Yuno has actual versatility in his kit, and can use the appropriate spell for each situation instead of spamming the same AoE tornado spell. So Yuno wins in every category here, and showcases what a wind user can look like when the character is fleshed-out and given some room to breathe.
